The most theorists and international analysts have pointed to the existential threat to Israeli nation-State emanating from Iran-backed Hezbollah’s consistent rocket and artillery attacks in the Northern Israel that displaced more than 65,000 Israelis from there to other parts of Israel, thereby bringing economic activities to a grinding halt in Northern Israel.
Lawrence Joffe theorised on Sunday, 29th September, 2024 in a piece in The Guardian, “But showing solidarity with Hamas after 7 October, and so displacing 65,000 Israelis in the north of the country, led to his death.”
It is pointed out that the current Israeli Government leadership of Benjamin Netanyahu wanted to restore peace in northern Israel to enable the 65,000 to return there and resume agricultural and other activities. This was possible only by stopping the Hezbollah aggression and for it the murder of Hassan Nasrallah and his top commanders was an inevitable necessity to decimate the military capabilities of the Hezbollah by depriving it of the necessary senior level military leadership.
Benjamin Netanyahu justified the murder of Hassan Nasrallah by claiming to have taken the revenge for past killings of hundreds of innocent Israelis, Americans, dozens of the French, and other foreign nationals, and thereby having settled the score.
However, Benjamin Netanyahu’s claims of revenge are wrong. If the Israeli government had really wished to take revenge, they would not have had a maritime and gas field demarcation agreement in year 2022 with the Hezbollah.
The 2022 agreement in effect meant that both the Hezbollah and the Israeli government had buried their past hostilities with each other, forgiven each other, and instead had decided to chart a new path of reconciliation based on mutually beneficial economic and political relations.
Therefore, we have to look elsewhere to find the correct answer.
Well, the real reason behind murdering Hassan Nasrallah is the eternal INSECURE PSYCH SYNDROME of majority of Jewish community and their top political leadership since the creation of the modern nation-State of Israel.
The eternal INSECURE PSYCH SYNDROME causes the top Israeli Government leadership to murder anyone in the world mercilessly if they perceive that adversary become militarily powerful, irrespective of whether that adversary is a real imminent military threat or not.
The Israeli Government leadership always justifies such a murder by terming it a pre-emptive preventive measure to nip the potential trouble in the bud itself.
An analogy can be drawn with a person who is perpetually in fear of ghosts. Such a person sees ghost everywhere and even a shadow in the dark is assumed to be a ghost.
Such a person don’t use their reasoning faculty properly and consequently they don’t understand that it’s just a shadow.
They would instead take the shadow to be a real person. This panicky misperception would make such a fearful person to attack such an imaginary ghost with all the weapons in possession of that fearful person in an attempt to kill the ghost before the supposed imaginary ghost kills the fearful person. The Israeli Government leadership happens to be the fearful person in the given analogy!
That’s why the Israeli Government leadership of Benjamin Netanyahu panicked the moment Iran showcased their powerful missiles and other military hardware for the whole world to see through globally televised coverage after the series of explosions on Hezbollah pagers and radios that killed scores and wounded thousands of Lebanese nationals.
The pager/radio-attacks were blamed on the Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agencies.
Later, the Israeli military bombarded the civilian areas of Beirut and Beqaa valley, murdering hundreds of innocent Lebanese nationals under the pretext of knocking down the Hezbollah fighters.
The Iranian government had most possibly hoped to send a stern diplomatic psychological message to the Israeli Government leadership to halt the Israeli military's above referred aggressions, by trying to make it realise the fact that the Iranians have military capabilities to hit Israel hard indirectly by supplying the powerful Iranian missiles and drones to its proxy Hezbollah.
Such a display of powerful military arsenal by one country in normal course deters the foe country by making the later realise that it would also lose heavily in a military fight if it continued its military actions against the former or the former's proxy.
However, this psychological tactic doesn’t bear fruit in cases where the adversary is suffering from INSECURE PSYCH SYNDROME. Rather it boomerangs and more so disastrously if the adversary has powerful weapons in their possession.
This INSECURE PSYCH SYNDROME made Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Government leadership panicky after they watched powerful missiles and other military hardware showcased by Iran.
They calculated that these powerful missiles and drones would be used effectively against Israeli military by Hassan Nasrallah and his top military commanders once Iran supplied them to Hezbollah.
It’s another matter that Iranian government have so far not done so despite Israeli military pressure on Hezbollah.
Iranians had possibly meant only to put a psychological pressure on Israeli Government leadership and not really meant to supply them to Hezbollah. If Iranians had really meant, they could and would have supplied these showcased weapons to Hezbollah long back.
Iranians possibly wanted to extract maximum possible damage to Israeli interests by investing minimum possible military weapons. This explains the fact that the Hezbollah doesn’t have any air defence system to counter the Israeli air raids into Lebanon. This also explains the fact that Iran has not trained Hezbollah fighters to be pilots capable of carrying out air raids into Lebanon.
In fact, it’s sheer stupidity to show bravado when your adversary is armed with a powerful air force and you don’t have even one modern fighter jet or superior air defence systems to counter enemy fighter planes.
This Iranian MINIMALIST APPROACH proved lucky for the Israeli military which easily murdered Nassarallah and his top commanders besides hundreds of innocent civilian Lebanese in Israeli air raids.
No wonder then, it was just a matter of time the Hezbollah headquarters would become a sitting duck to the Israeli F-35 fighter jets and Hassan Nasrallah would become a sacrificial lamb dying for the cause of innocent civilians of Gaza more than 41,000 of whom have mercilessly been murdered by Israeli defence forces in what has been described as the unprecedented genocide in the aftermath of October 7 operation by the Hamas in order to free the thousands of innocents Palestinians languishing in Israeli prisons.
To be fair to Hassan Nasrallah, he had initially refused to militarily support the Hamas after the 7th October incident.
He possibly took to hitting Israel with rockets only after it became apparent to him that the genocidal regime of Netanyahu had crossed all limits of cruelty in terms of the Israeli defence forces murdering thousands of hapless innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip.
This is evident from his statements wherein he had stressed that the Hezbollah would continue to attack Israeli in a calibrated proportional manner as long as the Israeli defence forces don’t stop murdering thousands of hapless innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip. This also means that he would have stopped hitting Israel with rockets, missiles, and other arms if the Israeli defence forces had stopped murdering thousands of hapless innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip.
The eternal INSECURE PSYCH SYNDROME of majority of Jewish community and their top political leadership is not going to go away if we take into consideration the past and present behaviours of the Israeli Government leadership. Unfortunately, this INSECURE PSYCH SYNDROME was there, is there and shall continue to be there in future also if no sustainable permanent peaceful solution is found to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
