"अगर बग़ावत है तो हम भी उसके बाग़ी हैं....!" - MY FASCINATING REMINISCENCES - MY MEETING WITH JAI PRAKASH NARAIN JI
During my college days in Delhi University from 1970 to 1974, there was a popular mass public-rebellion led by Jai Prakash Narayan.
This massive public-rebellion was against the then Ruling party of India, the Congress in view of Indira Gandhi’s dictatorship.
I had to attend a huge gathering and meeting addressed by Jai Prakash
Narayan Ji at Delhi University, which was on T-point of the Road at Ramjas & Daulatram college .
After his speech was over, Jai Prakash Narayan Ji said to us," अगर बग़ावत है तो हम भी उसके बाग़ी हैं....! (agar bagawat hai to hum bhi uskey bagi hai.)” which means - If there is a REVOLT/REBELLION, I am a part of it ( REVOLT/REBELLION), also...!
In next meeting at Patna,
police lathi used charge to disburse the people. I also sustained minor injuries in that brutal lathi-charge by the Bihar police. But, I braved it all since I considered it my duty to be a part of that historic mass movement. I indeed was a foot-soldier of that historical public-rebellion meant to save our mighty Indian democracy...
Those days, I frequently used to visit Jai Prakash Narayan Ji’s kothi at Lal Kuan
in Patna where “Jai - Prabha" was written in the front on wall. He would receive me warmly and we would exchange our views freely, sometimes at minor variance. He would give me a lot of guidance on how to help take forward that big fight for Indian democracy.
He indeed was my friend, philosopher, guide and mentor in political field. In fact, it shall only be wholly correct to say that he was my Political Guru...
Prabha was Jai Prakash Narayan Ji’s wife & she had taken part
in Indian independence movement along with Mahatma Gandhi.
....Next time, I will tell you about my meetings with Dalai Lama, Morarji
Desai, Charan Singh, Davraha baba, Jagjivan Ram, VV Giri, VP Singh & ND
Tiwari, Rajeev Gandhi, MS Chanda ( health minister Nepal) and others!
