The Indian Express, Pune Newsline, Friday, August 1, 2003 carries a news item
captioned “Parmar tops MA (Geography)” which says, “SHER Singh Parmar, a student of Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Arts, Science and commerce, Pimpri, Pune has topped University of Pune at the MSc/MA (Geography) exams with a First Class Distinction.”(Courtesy: The Indian Express)
Thus, one can see that Thakur Sher Singh Parmar aka Dr Swaamee Aprtemaanandaa Jee had indeed topped Savitribai Phule Pune University at the MSc/MA (Geography) in 2003. University of Pune later manipulated exam results by inflating marks of a student named Snehal Dayarambhai Patel of SP College, Pune in order to make her the topper instead.
One must appreciate the fact that he topped University of Pune in Geography in 2003 again even after a gap of 14 years in academic pursuit since 1987 when he had graduated topping the University of Pune in Geography and discontinued higher studies in Geography there after.
Dr Swaamee Aprtemaanandaa Jee would not tolerate injustice to him. He kept pursuing the matter with University of Pune authorities from 2004 onwards in addition to the HRD minister, and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. But, none cared to get him justice.
This fraud committed by University of Pune shall remain a blot on integrity of this premier education institution. This bad state of affairs in academic institutions is one of the main reasons for poor quality of acdemic output in India. Governments need to tackle monsture of corruption head on to encourage real talent to go ahead.
